The legendary Diana Dors stars as Mrs. Ardoy, the mother of a large family of Hungarian Extraction who live in a remote area of a forest. When Tom Martin played by the actor Christopher Cazenove and his wife Sarah suddenly lose control of their car and crash on their way to a holiday cottage, they start walking to find a nearby house and stumble upon the Ardoy's house in the woods. The friendly Mrs Ardoy is keen for then to stay there whilst they wait for their car to be repaired. The children take to Sarah and tell her that Mrs. Ardoy isn't their real mother. Whilst in their room, Sarah sees something at the window. Tom, already suspicious, climbs out and down the drainpipe but falls to the ground. Meanwhile a werewolf enters the bedroom and attacks Sarah whilst Mrs. Ardoy and her children look on. Tom comes too in a hospital bed with Sarah looking over him. She tells him that they had a car accident and that he's been unconsious in hospital since. Tom tells her of Mrs. Ardoy and the children but Sarah tells him that he must have dreamt it. The trouble is Sarah starts acting weirdly, eating raw meat and when Tom goes back to work he tells his colleague that Sarah has had an increased appeitite for sex. Sarah then tells Tom that she's pregnant. When he returns home one day from work, shes gone. Tom is sure he knows where and he heads off in the car to Harrys cottage to find the spot where they crashed. Some of Mrs. Ardoy's children greet Sarah when she arrives and help her hide her car. Mrs.Ardoy tells Sarah that they were expecting her and take her to a room. They prepare for childbirth. When Tom arrives he parks up his car and starts walking through the woods and meets an axe weilding woodman. He asks the woodman if he knows of a house and large family who live nearby. The woodman denies any knowlege and gives a hearty laugh at Toms mention of werewolves. When the night starts to draw in the woodmans appearance starts to change. He raises his axe and brings it down on Tom. Meanwhile Sarah has given birth, but died during childbirth. Mrs. Ardoy has another child to raise.
