Vehicles used in Hammer films (NEW PICS ADDED)

Post by thirtysomething »

I thought I would look up the vehicles used in the Hammer films.
I'm starting with The Thirteenth Reunion.

Cars in the episode
Renault 21
Rolls Royce
Jaguar
Ford Transit
Vanden plas princess

Ruths car is up first, her Renault 21 estate JLO749V was built in 1979 and was last on the road in 1991, I would say its been scrapped now.
The hearse, a Vanden plas princess, 455 DLW was built 1962 and was last on the road in 1981, I guess to this was scrapped or used in a bangor race.

The Rolls Royce parked outside chesterton clinic, CN1, no detials can be found as that reg now belongs to an AUDI......

Bens Jag I could not find, GFA41N, maybe this was false or most likely written off in that accident.

Last of all the White Ford Transit that was behind Bens jag tand run him off the road, NEH924M was built in 1973 and was last on the road in 1984, vans and trucks have such a hard working life I didn't expect this one to still with
us.

The House That Bled to Death

Cars in the episode
Ford Granada
Austin Maxi

A.J. Powers ford Granada TCK638R,Vehicle details could not be found, Could this be???? Cowelys car from The Proffessionals? would explain a false plate.

George Evens Austin Maxi GBT699N,Built in 1974 was last on the road in 1984, just ten years old when it was most likely scrapped.

The Two Faces Of Evil

Cars used in the episode
Morris Marina
Fiat
Bedford CF
Honda

Red Morris Marina, SMF412M,Vehicle details could not be found, most likely written off in that episode.

Fiat estate,PFC409P,Vehicle details could not be found,in the 80s fiat was more of a throw away car and did rust badly, I would have thought it was scrapped long ago.

The Honda, not got the full plate at this time, RGO........

Bedford CF Ambulance, I couldn't read the plate, but I'm sure it has been used in other hammer episodes so will check.

The Mark Of Satan

Cars in that episode
Mk1 Ford Escort
MK1 Vauxhall Cavalier
vandam plas princess (Hearse)

Edwyn's Ford Escort, YLK427G,Vehicle details could not be found, shame a two door Tax exempt escort is very sort after today.

Dr Harris drive's a very rare light blue MK1 Vauxhal Cavalier, sadly no number plate can be seen. Could this be the car that come's into shot in The House That Bled To Death????

The hearse a vandam plas princess has the reg SM927K (false) I would say this is the same hearse as used in The Thirteenth Reunion

Witching Time

Cars in the episode
Triumph TR8
Volvo estate

Mary Winters drop top TR8, NVS125V,..............SUCCESS! this one is still with us and taxed until 2008 so look out for it, this is a TR8 not a TR7 as its Cylinder Capacity (cc) is 3528CC thats a 3.5 ltr V8 Rover engine...lovely!

Charles Volvo estate, THM140S,built in 1977 she lasted until 1989, shame this was rather special, after market alloys wheels and full fold back sunroof, I've never seen another on a Volvo.

Visitor From The Grave

Cars used in the episode
Ranger Rover
Jaguar
MK2 Ford Escort(police)

The white Range Rover, FUR747T,(false) this did belong to a volvo built in 1979 and was last on the road in 2001, no idea of the ID of the Range Rover.

Jaguar,EPA802V,built in 1979 this car lasted until 1991.

Thanks to Tinker for the reg, the Police Car, a MK2 Ford Escort reg NO SPU44R Was Registerd in 1977 and lasted until 1988, these cars demand a great deal of cash in two door forms and if it had lasted until now I would have thought it would be sporting a pinto engine and wide arches, running round a track near you

The red Morris Marina was used in a shot of the railway station car park in an episode of The Shillingbury Tales. I will check the number plate, but I think its the same. Many of the crew (including director Val Guest) worked on The Shillingbury Tales around the same time as The Hammer House of Horror. Infact there are many similarities between the two series. I think they used the same film stock, and the sig tune was released on the "Chips" label - same company that made HHofH. Will check credits to see if any other crew worked on both series - would like to get them contributung to this site!

I have yet to do others, just not had the time.
Anyone can get information of cars from the DVLA, they won't give out the keeper details, unless you have good reason, and you must be the keeper to recover the history of the car.
