Re: RISING DAMP

I love the one where Philip convinces Rigsby that an old chair leg is an African aphrodisiac stick and Rigsby light it and wafts it around Miss Jones. Hilarious.

A History of Hampden House

For those like me who have a keen interest in the history of the house itself, here's an essay by the current owner (for whom I work) Tim Oliver...

Re: powerful scenes

I rather liked the opening (pre-title sequence) scene of Children of the Full Moon, where we see an innocent little girl playing and singing softly to herself, then see turns to camera revealing her blood soaked face where she's been feasting on a dead sheep! Really made me jump the first time.

Big Cats in The Silent Scream

I've often wondered who supplied and trained the rather large and dangerous looking big cats? Would it have been a specialist production company, or a Circus or Zoo?

Re: Hammer house

Okay it's not on the scale of Blenheim Palace, but it's crammed full of fascinating rooms with many a curious nook and cranny or architectural feature. Hammer really only scratched the surface of the building's potential for Gothic horror scene setting.

Re:

It looks a slightly peculiar operation, and have seen a number of German and Swedish registered cars coming and going from the place on the occasions I have been there. Not sure what goes on there really... Nothing peculiar about it, we're a specialist insurance consultancy and management company a...

Re: What is the best episode?

Guardian of the Abyss is one of my favourites, if only because I used to sit and have lunch roughly where the human sacrifice scene took place!

Re: Name of hammer movie

You might possibly be thinking of 'The Monster Club' which was Amicus not Hammer. One of the characters is a ShadMock, which can kill or horribly disfigure with it's piercing whistling. (rubbish move, book's quite good though).

Re: What is the best episode?

I like all the episodes that use lots of interior shots of the house, but then I'm biased, I work there.

Especially me I bet, I worked there for ten years, and still make the occasional visit.

Fire away with the questions, it's been as quiet as erm.. a grave, around here lately.

Holiday on the Busses is a perfect example of comedy inadvertantly becoming documentary, it documents a whole era of British working class life that's gone forever. That's just what working class family holidays were like in the 1970s, they got it down to a tee.

If I get another wedding booking there, maybe I can come up with a cunning plan to sneak you all in! Hahaha... Well now, I wonder, If I asked the management very nicely if a site admin from here along with a photographer could do a not-for-profit photo shoot for this website? Seeing as the Hammer y...
