Wow, what a cool job Andy! I bet you never grow tired of visiting that gorgeous building - it's stunning inside and out, isn't it! Certainly is, and since its a Grade I building, the interior you see in the episodes is exactly as it is in real life. yet again I have to give credit to Hampden Plc wh...

Nice work. Glad to see the scaffolding from the roof repairs is finally down. I'll try and get some decent exterior pics next time I'm working there. Not that I'm a photographer, I look after their computer systems.

Hampden house is regularly used for filming, Martin Clunes "Mr Chips" was filmed there for instance. I do some contract work there and can confirm the place hasn't changed at all since the Hammer days. Hampden Plc have invested eye watering amounts of money into maintaining the house much to their c...

I suspect it was made on a budget of 50p and it shows. The book is infinitely better, though really more appealing to a young teenager than an older reader, still if you forget you know what a razor is for and read it under the bedclothes by torchlight you'll enjoy it!.

A police car picks them up, the shock horror moment is when one of the officers grins at them and shows the shark teeth of the ghouls!

Silent Scream - alternative ending

I've just re-watched Silent Scream for the first time since it was on TV, and I reckon Hammer re-wrote the ending part way through filming. Let me explain. When I worked at Hampden House in the 1990s power failures were a regular part of life, the power lines in rural Buckinghamshire are (or were) t...

I worked at Hampden House in the 1990s (way after Hammer sold it), I used to eat lunch at a table more or less exactly on the spot where the human sacrifices happened in 'Guardian of the Abyss'. The chandelier above used to rattle mysteriously when people on the floor above walked around. Pity Hamme...

I think the film you're thinking of is 'The Monster Club' made by Amicus. It was a trio of stories with the last story being the one you remember. The story revolved around an American movie maker who stumbles across a fog bound village and befriends a ghoul or a humghoul to be exact ! One of my fa...
