Apparently these comedy films were some of Hammers biggest money makers

Hi - the majority was filmed at Pontins Prestatyn and surrounding area - the pontins is still there and the area hasn't changed too much since Butler and co were there! You may find this link useful from the OTB Fanclub site...

I was a chalet maid at Pontins for ten years, but not during the filming,in the 90's.But i worked with most of the old staff who were around at the making of the film, and most of them all had little bit parts. The bridge were Olive and Stan loose the luggage from the bike is the Rhuddlan bridg, which is still there....

On the buses movies

My favourite film is 'Holiday On The Buses' because I stayed at Pontins - Prestatyn Sands where it was filmed, in 1985 & 86. I love the opening shot of the camp, with the Pontins sign on the reception/amenities building, the swimming pool & the shots outside the chalets. Brings back some very happy memories :)

Holiday on the Busses is a perfect example of comedy inadvertantly becoming documentary, it documents a whole era of British working class life that's gone forever. That's just what working class family holidays were like in the 1970s, they got it down to a tee.
